About PawPicks UK

PawPicks is a small, independent site built around one dog.

His name is Milo. He is twelve, a Labrador × Lurcher, and he has strong opinions about beds, weather, and whether a walk has gone on long enough. Everything on this site passes through him first.

Milo — Chief Product Tester

Milo in the garden — where a lot of the real testing quietly happens

Milo has been with us since he was five months old. He is a senior dog now, with a sensitive stomach, stiff mornings in winter, and a low tolerance for anything that squeaks at the wrong pitch. That combination turns out to be a very good filter.

A spec sheet cannot tell you whether a cooling mat gets used on the one genuinely hot week of the year, whether an enrichment toy holds a twelve-year-old's attention past the first five minutes, or whether a harness still sits right after two hundred muddy walks. Living with a thing tells you that. So that is what we do.

How We Actually Test

When something arrives, it goes into Milo's ordinary life — on walks, in the garden, on the sofa, in the car — and stays there long enough to stop being a novelty. Then we watch what he goes back to and what quietly ends up in the cupboard.

The things we cover most:

  • Treats and chews — what he actually finishes, how they sit with a sensitive stomach, and how long a chew genuinely lasts
  • Enrichment — puzzles, snuffle mats and slow feeders, judged on whether a senior dog stays interested after week one
  • Cooling and warmth — mats, coats and towels, tested on the days the weather actually demands them
  • Everyday essentials — beds, bowls, leads, harnesses and grooming kit, assessed after months of ordinary wear rather than an unboxing

We write up what did not work as readily as what did. A product that Milo ignored is a useful result, and it goes on the page.

We are not vets or nutritionists, and we do not pretend to be. We are dog owners reporting honestly on what one dog lived with.

Our Approach to Affiliate Links

We do use affiliate links. When you buy through one of our Amazon links, we earn a small commission — it costs you nothing extra and helps keep the site running.

Our commitment is simple: nothing is ranked or recommended because it pays better. If the cheaper option is the one Milo kept choosing, that is the one that goes first. Our affiliate disclosure page explains this in full.

We have never taken payment for a positive review, and we never will. If a brand sends something for Milo to try, we say so on the page and we still write what happened — good or bad.

Get in Touch

We are a small operation and we read everything. If you have found an error, have something you would like Milo to try, or just want to tell us about your own dog, we would genuinely like to hear from you.
